Monday –

Students will finish presentations in think Lab. Students will also post the presentation to his/her blog. Students will also finish lesson in Study Sync.

Tuesday –

Students will take a two story benchmark in order to improve scores after two weeks of tutoring.

Wednesday –

Finish benchmark. We will review answers. Students will begin writing a fantasy story.

Thursday –

Students will complete Scope magazine article that was carried over from last week. Students will complete lesson in Study Island.

Friday –

Students will finish story, Scope magazine article, and Study Island lesson.

Week of March 24

Monday –

Students will work on STAAR passages. They will read passages, prove answers, and answer questions.

Tuesday –

Students will check out or recheck out books.

Students will read a story in Scope Magazine and complete lesson involving comprehension and writing.

Wednesday –

Students will complete the poetry and drama lesson on Study Island.

Thursday –

Students will be given the opportunity to work on book projects.

Friday –

Book project presentations.

Monday
School Holiday

Tuesday
Students will check out and recheck their library books.
Students will take their writing and editing/revising universal screener.

Wednesday
Due to the students having difficulty on organizational patterns, I will reteach this reading skill.
Then students will work independently to do the computer reading skills. They answer 20 organizational patterns questions.

Thursday
The class will read the 2 non-fiction pieces from our Literature book called Farah Ahmedi p. 231 and Facing a Mob p. 211, then the class will read the graphic novel called Alienation p. 157. As we read out loud students will answer the comprehension questions.

Friday
From the Elements of Language book pages 422-425 as a class read and do exercises 1, 2, and 4. Then students will work with a partner to do Subject and Verb Agreement worksheet p. 112.

Week of January 13

Monday
Students will present their Holocaust Presentations to the class.

Tuesday
Students will check out and recheck their library books.
Students will take their reading Universal Screening.

Wednesday

Students will listen to the stories The Flying Machine and All Summer in a Day. As the stories are read the students will compare and contrast the setting, mood, characters, etc.

Thursday
Students will discuss composition’s organizational patterns. We will read and discuss a handout, then students will respond to the interactive flash cards that will review this skill.
Then students will either work independently on computer reading skills program Study Island.

Friday
Students will work with a partner to revise/edit the non-fiction piece called A Pilot and a Hero pages 15-17 and letter to Mr. Crumley pages 19-21. Students will turn in their work to the basket.

Week of January 6

Welcome back from the Christmas Holidays.  I hope that you had a joyful holiday and have come back ready to work.

Monday
We will discuss our Holocaust project. I will show the students how to cite their sources.

Tuesday
Students will check out and recheck their library books.

As a class we will do the introductory video for graphic features (interpreting maps, graphs, and charts).
Students will either work independently or work with a partner to do the computer reading skills program Study Island.

Wednesday
Students will select 1 Holocaust topic to research independently and then type the information in a Google Drive Presentation. Students will cite their sources.

Thursday and Friday
Students will continue to work on their Holocaust. Students have access to a vast supply of books to research from, or they may use the Holocaust website. These presentations will begin on Monday.

Monday

Students will will write in journals. Students will also finish Google Lit Trip.

Students will read and discuss Number the Stars chapters 12-15.

Students will begin working on semester review.

Tuesday

Students will check out and recheck their library books.

The class will finish reading and discussing Number the Stars chapters 16-end.

We will discuss the novel’s plot: exposition, revising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.

Wednesday

Students will take their Number the Stars test.

Students will finish plot diagram.

Thursday
Students will either work independently or work with a partner to do Study Island. They will read the passages and highlight their answers for 12 main idea and making inferences questions.

Friday

The class will review kinds of sentences by doing a Mimio lesson.

Students will take a main idea quiz.

Students will work on Mountain Language.

Students will write a 1/2 page diary entry as the main character Annemarie based on the recent events from the novel.

Students will check out and recheck their library books.
We will watch the School House Rocks pronoun video.
Students will do a pronoun review Mimio lesson.

Students will work on their Google maps

Wednesday
As a class read and discuss Number the Stars chapters 9-11.
Review pronouns

Thursday
Students will recognize generalizations from a passage. Students will work with partners completing a Study Island lesson.

Friday
The class will read the biography “Voice from the Holocaust” pages 618-621 and the non-fiction piece called “The Secret Schools” pages 624-626.

Students will summarize the biography.

Together we will read about and discuss the author Lois Lowry and the historical fiction genre.
We will read and discuss chapters 1 & 2 of the novel Number the Stars.

Monday
Students will newspaper articles and select the 1 headline that best describes the main idea of the article.

Students will check out and recheck their library books.
Students will make a parts of speech fold-able focusing on nouns today. We will add the other parts of speech in subsequent days to come. Students will write its definition, write a sentence using a noun/nouns from their own writing, and then they will copy a sentence from their book using nouns.

Wednesday
Early release

Students will finish working on their parts of speech foldable.

Thursday
Students will respond to their ePals pen pals.  Students will be able to detect adjectives in a passage.

Friday
Students will read a couple of nonfiction article at Tween Tribune and answer a critical thinking question.

Students will discuss introductions.  We will then do a foldable to write our brainstorming.

Students will continue with brainstorming and begin writing rough copy.

Students will peer edit papers and write final copy.

The class will perform the play The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

We will discuss the play to develop a better understanding of the characters and plot.

Friday
