Monday
Students will complete the storyboard of the plot diagram for Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Tuesday
Students will complete their book report.

Wednesday and Thursday
Students will go to the library to check in books and out out books. Students will also share their personal narratives.

Friday
We will discuss noncount nouns from our Write Source language book on pages 517 and 192. Next, we will do a Mimio lesson covering this material.

Week of October 14

Monday
Students will complete non fiction article from Friday.

Students will work on communication skills while writing a letter to a epal.
Students will also complete their character analysis of one of the following: Amy, Louanne, or Aunt Claire from the book Dollhouse Murders.
Tuesday
Students will be able to check out library books.

Students will be given academic vocabulary for drama.
Wednesday

As a class read aloud and discuss using capital letters from the language book pages 542-548 and do exercises 4 and 5. Students will work in a group to do pages 216 & 217. This is homework if they do not finish.

We will read aloud and discuss capital letters from the language book pages 537-541 and do exercises 1 & 3. Students will work in a group to do pages 213 & 215. This is homework if they do not finish.

We will review the reading skill summary. Students will receive a handout that we will read and discuss.
Thursday

The class will perform the play The Case of the Kidnapped Nephew.
Friday
The students will read non fiction and complete a critical thinking question.

Week of October 7

Monday

Students will learn how to make a folder in Google Docs and put their first six weeks work in it.

Students will finish a character analysis of one of the characters in Dollhouse Murders.

Students will begin keeping a journal in Google docs. This will be used as a beginning activity when

they come into the room. This activity will last 5 minutes.

Tuesday

Journaling
Students will go to the library to check out books.
Students will be able to do a Mimio lesson on subject-verb agreement.

Wednesday

Students will begin watching The Dollhouse Murders.

Thursday

Journaling

Students will finish watching movie.

Students will discuss plot line.

Friday

Students will read non fiction articles and respond to a critical thinking question.

Students will finish reading Dollhouse Murders.

Wednesday

Students will take their 6 weeks language arts test.

Thursday

Students will take a reading Universal Screening to access what they know and need to know.

Friday

Students will read a non-fiction article and complete a critical thinking question.

Mini-lesson over subject-verb agreement.

Students will finish blog updates. We will log onto scrumy.com to start filling out assignment calendars.

Wednesday

I will read the storybook “Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge” Students will make a list of experiences from their life to write about.

Students will learn what a trusim is and why it is used in writing.

In a small group students will play the game Battle of the Writing Process.

Thursday

Students will learn about starred writing, which is writing with depth.

Students will create their own “Starred Wheelies”.

Friday

Students will finish the “Starred Wheelies”. We will discuss what a well elaborated paragraph is all about.

Students will learn about sparkling sentences. Students will receive a handout to be on the lookout for these kinds of sentences in their own writing and in writing of others.
